ABROAD...again

Well, I am living abroad...yet again. After Singapore, Spain, Turkey, Korea the Netherlands (and returning to Spain for a Masters) I've unpacked my backpack a little closer to home in Mexico. I live in Culiacan where I am trying my hand at teaching English to University and high school students. Below you'll find random updates as I go to festivals, explore my city or just feel like sharing a random story.

Oh, and also the bus

So I was walking home yesterday FREEZING (it wasn't THAT cold, but I was tired and just wanting to get home which made it feel even COLDER) and I walked by the bus stop, at the exact moment the bus that passes by my home passed me.

Sooo, I figured, I am freezing, I am going to spend the whole 900 won (about...50 cents wiht the current exchange rate) and take the bus home.

Now those of you have been paying attention it takes me about 15-20 minutes to walk home (10 if I run and get lucky with the lights) the bus...takes...about 35 :-P

So taking the bus is REALLY not a time saver at all (it goes zig zaggy, all the way down to home plus then to the local College around my apartment and then to my apartment stop) but it is heated and MUCH lazier.

Panties

So, I was teaching a lesson on clothing the other day and I used the peanutbutter song (not sure if anyone remembers it here video)

And one of the lines is, "On your underwear?"

Which leads to me ask the children,

"What does underwear mean?"

And one of the boys goes, "panties" (yes this happens in each class it will always be a boy).

I agree, "Yes, that's right, panties are underwear...but panties are GIRL underwear. Only girls wear panties."

The boys look confused...they are obviously in their minds wearing panties right now.

"See underwear is a word we can use with boys AND girls, but panties is a word we ONLY use for girls.

Girls wear panties...boys do not. Girls wear underwear boys do too!"

Yep, I have a deep important job in this world, explaining that boys do not wear panties...

my work in Korea is done

Well....it is DECEMBER

I got in a bit of a funk the other day...it's cold...and I have gotten in the groove of teaching so its no longer a daily challenge...and this is not what I want to do for another year... who knows maybe its because I am just a nomadic soul, or maybe my co-teacher is driving me crazy :-)

But with my eyes set forward in what is yet to come I started a countdown

I am about 67% done, only one third left
127 more days total
53 more teaching days (not counting winter camp)
15 more weekends
8 more teachers classes (my least favorite class as you all know)

Well...when I look at it that way ... I am SAD! I don't want to leave Korea so sooon :(
